We usually are able to sell between 400 and 600 items in a live auction taking place over a 6-9 hour period. We utalize phone in bidding at all of our live auctions attracting our upscale customers from all over the world. We advertise using many different resources for months ahead of time, building an excitement that only grows greater until the auction day. Live auctions tend to get higher selling prices for our consignees items. We believe this is because our customers are allowed to physically see the items for sale in person. Live auctions are more expensive to host, so the commissions are a little higher. The higher selling prices often outweigh the commission.
